A very uneven and overlong book making serious points in a humorous way about the difficulty for women to be taken seriously at work and in life in the 1950s and 1960s。Pretty tedious for 300 pages， then effective and affective in bringing the plot to a conclusion in the last 90 pages。If it hadn’t been a book club choice I would have abandoned it early on。
